Platero y tú (years active: 1989-2001) was a rock band from Bilbao, Spain that emerged from the Basque countryside as one of the area's leading radical music acts. With lyrics that run the gamut of youth experience, Platero y tú is often celebrated as one of the pioneers of contemporary nationalistic rock in Spain. After releasing several studio albums throughout the 1990s to varying degrees of critical acclaim, the members of Platero y tú decided to disband after their final tour in 2001 to pursue solo projects.
