Nylon Beat was a pop group from Finland that formed in 1995. The duo was made up of Jonna Kosonen and Erin Koivisto, who created the band as a result of the television show Kiitorata when they were only 16 years old. At the start of its career, Nylon Beat's live performances were supported by backup tracks and pre-recordings. With the help of writer Ilkka Vainio and writer/producer Risto Asikainen, the pair put together a live band and began creating commercially and internationally successful pop music. Including it's 1996 self-titled debut album, Nylon Beat released eight certified gold albums and seven certified platinum records. In 1999, the band released its album Valehtelija, and received an Emma Award for Band of the Year. The duo released its final studio album 12 Apinaa, in 2003 and played its farewell show at a New Year's Eve concert the same year.
