Kate Wolf was a folk singer/songwriter from the San Francisco Bay Area who was active in the 1970s and 1980s. Her gentle acoustic ballads and intimate vocals helped her become one of the genre's purist devotees, while songs such as "Across the Great Divide" and "Here In California" remain classic and often covered by the likes of Emmylou Harris and Nanci Griffith. Wolf recorded 10 albums of her signature brand of rustic folk and perfectly captured the feel of the era's popular singer/songwriter phase. She died in 1986 after a battle with leukemia.
