Jurassic 5 is an hip-hop group from Los Angeles that formed in 1993. Comprised of rappers Chali 2na, Zaakir, Akil, and Mark 7even, as well as DJs Nu-Mark and Cut Chemist, the group subscribes to old-school hip-hop styles that recall some of the laid-back, yet socially aware vibes of outfits like A Tribe Called Quest and early De La Soul. Jurassic 5's second album, entitled Quality Control, introduced the group to a wider audience in 2000 by landing at #43 on the Billboard 200 chart. Though Jurassic 5 took a hiatus in 2007, it reformed in 2013 much to the delight of the group's dedicated fans.
