Harvey Danger is an American indie rock band best known for its popular 1998 alternative rock radio single, "Flagpole Sitta." The song's bratty, sarcastic vocals and driving power pop style reached #3 on the US Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart that year, and bolstered the group from obscurity to national prominence nearly overnight. The band formed in Seattle in 1994 while its members were attending the University of Washington, originally debuting with a pop punk-influenced sound that also borrowed liberally from the grunge and alternative rock music that was saturating their hometown at the time. Though it never came close to matching the commercial success of "Flagpole Sitta" with its following albums and singles, Harvey Danger carried on until 2001, adopting a more varied sonic palette along the way. In 2004, the group reformed after a three year hiatus, releasing a couple of EPs before disbanding once again in 2009.
