Garnett Silk

Garnett Silk (1966-1994) was a reggae musician and Rastafarian from Manchester; Jamaica who, despite losing his life at such an early age, stood as one of the most promising talents in reggae. Celebrated for his smooth, yet emotionally powerful voice, Silk almost immediately became noticed by musical elite of Jamaica, who then provided him with an opportunity to record his songs in the late 1980s to much success. Unfortunately for the world of reggae, Garnett Silk died tragically while saving his mother from a burning house shortly after signing an international record deal with Atlantic Records. Despite his incredibly short career in the music industry, Silk's influence still resonates in the reggae genre to this day.
