Franco Corelli (1921-2003) was world-famous opera tenor from Ancona, Italy who reached the height of his international operatic career between the years 1951-1976. Often referred to as the "Prince of Tenors" due to his tremendous vocal technique and handsome features, Franco Corelli was considered to be one of the world's most sought after tenors for many years, particularly for operas from the Italian repertoire highlighting "spinto" and dramatic tenor roles. After retiring from the stage in 1976, Corelli relocated to New York to become a vocal instructor before moving back to his native Italy, where he passed away in 2003.
