Eva Cassidy was an American singer/songwriter known for her beautiful voice and a career that was tragically cut short. She grew up in Maryland, where she took up guitar and voice lessons at an early age. By 1992, she had released The Other Side, which introduced listeners to her folk stylings full of vintage jazz, blues, country and gospel influences. This would unfortunately be the only album Cassidy would see released in her lifetime, as melanoma took her life in 1996 at the age of just 33. A number of live performances and previously recorded material has been released posthumously since then, exposing the stark beauty found in her singing and songwriting to an ever-increasing number of music fans.
