Dirty Pretty Things was an English band that was formed by singer/songwriter Carl Barat after his former band, The Libertines, broke up in 2004. With a characteristic style that paid homage to the popular post-punk revival sound of the early aughts, Dirty Pretty Things managed to become a well-known band with respectable albums and engaging stage shows. Though the group was at the peak of its popularity, in 2008, Dirty Pretty Things issued a statement announcing the band's breakup, declaring the group's members needed to "try new things."
