Articolo 31 (years active: 1990-2006) was an alternative hip-hop outfit from Milan, Italy that still stands as one of Italy's most popular and influential hip-hop acts. Celebrated for the band's unique combination of rap, funk, pop and traditional Italian folk music, Articolo 31 became one of the first Italian hip-hop groups to make it to the big time. Because of the band's huge commercial success, many lesser known bands on the underground hip-hop scene labeled Articolo 31 as "traitors." This, however, did not slow the rap group's success, and 16 years later, Articolo 31 disbanded after a long, lucrative career on the Italian commercial hip-hop scene.
