After Forever (years active: 1995-2009) was a symphonic metal band from the Netherlands that evolved from a death metal band with harsh male vocals into its more renowned incarnation with the addition of lead female vocalist Floor Jansen. After Forever's sophomore album Decipher was hailed by critics and fans as the first great example of the band's unique metal style and technique. The band's third album, Invisible Circles, was released as a concept album about psychological abuse, and is widely considered to be After Forever's magnum opus. Although After Forever decided to disband in 2009, for many, the band still stands as one of the more legendary symphonic metal bands in recent history.
