About
Ensiferum is a folk metal band that emerged out of Finland in 1995. With a fusion of folk and metal melodies, the band is known for often using acoustic guitars in addition to electric guitars and keyboards. Before Ensiferum released its eponymous debut album in 2001, it has already undergone several lineup changes and would continue to rotate different musicians in and out with guitarist Markus Toivonen as the only remaining founder. Despite its unstable lineup, the band has consistently released music into the 2000s and 2010s, including its sixth studio album Unsung Heroes, released in 2012.
