This political rapper's real name is Jason Michael Robinson Diakité, but he goes by the name Timbuktu after the city in Mali where his father is from. Although he has written some songs in English, he mainly sings in Swedish with a heavy Scanian accent. After collaborating with multiple artists, he finally released his solo debut The Conspiracy in 1999. Since then, Timbuktu has received Grammy awards for best hip hop artist and best lyrics.
