Markelian Kapedani

Born to the famous Albanian conductor Gjon Kapidani, Markelian Kapedani continued in the family tradition and began receiving musical instruction on the piano at the age of four. Immediately recognized as a virtuoso, Kapedani performed in 1992 at the first public jazz concert in Albany after the Berlin Wall fell. After being asked to work in Albanian TV and Radio, Kapedani's fusion of piano rhapsody with ethnic and more modern styles of jazz made him a national icon. This popularity soon transferred over to Italy, where Kapedani has his largest fan base today.
