Often described as Tom Waits' version of Southern gospel and soul, the music of Bruce James boasts an evident knowledge of traditional Southern music, but also a distinctly gruff and modern voice. This unique sound has garnered positive press from as far as Italy to as close to home as his native state of Texas. Generally performing on keys with a full backing band called the Soultet, James has begun to build quite the reputation on the Austin live music circuit.
