About
In 1964, when drummer Bill Kreutzmann formed The Warlocks, which would soon change its name to The Grateful Dead, with Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir and Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, he helped launch one of the most iconoclastic jam bands that has ever existed. During the group's existence, which was cut short by Garcia's death in 1995, The Grateful Dead would create a community of fans who would follow the band on tour and dedicate their lives to the music the group created. During the Dead's "long strange trip," Kreutzmann would see it all and play all of the 2,300 shows the band played over the three decades it was together. Though the accomplished drummer has gone on to play with the remaining members of The Grateful Dead in various incarnations, Kreutzmann has also followed his own musical path and played with an impressive amount of other musicians on interesting projects that always highlight Kreutzmann's impressive knack for rhythm.
