Manu Chao is the leader of a band that's main intention is to replicate the sounds of street music and bar scenes from a variety of cultures. By creating a sonic aesthetic that borrows from rockabilly, reggae, calypso, Latin and countless others, the group has garnered a reputation for itself as a premiere, globe-trotting live act that believes in the transcendental powers of music. The band was formed in Paris in the late 1990s, although Manu Chao's group is made up of several nationalities.
