Victoria Bergsman's solo project Taken By Trees started in 2006, the same year she left indie pop band The Concretes. Her debut album Open Field was released in 2007. With the following album, wanting to try something new, Bergman traveled to Pakistan to record the 2009 album East of Eden with local musicians and which included a cover of a popular Animal Collective song, grabbing the attention of the blogosphere.
