Detroit Mercy Titans

The Detroit Titans (sometimes referred to as the Mercy Titans due to the university's affiliation with the Catholic Sisters of Mercy), play in NCAA Division I athletics and compete in the Horizon League. The university has more than eighteen different men's and women's teams, some of which include golf, soccer, lacrosse, tennis and basketball. The men's lacrosse team plays in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and the women's lacrosse team plays in the Atlantic Sun Conference. During the late 70's, boisterous ESPN college-basketball commentator Dick Vitale was the men's basketball coach for four years (1977-1981), before he went to coach the Detroit Pistons and subsequently into broadcasting.
