The Pepperdine Waves represents the athletic programs and intercollegiate teams of Pepperdine University outside of Malibu, California. The university is affiliated with the NCAA's Division I and competes in the West Coast Conference, which is comprised entirely of religious universities. Several of Pepperdine's teams also compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The school's men's volleyball program has been very successful over the years, winning the first in its string of national championships in 1978. Other men's and women's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and tennis teams.
