After hearing a few songs from the Memphis, Tennessee-based band Lucero (translated to 'bright star' in Spanish), the band's punk, blues and soul influences are evident. The four-piece formed in 1998 and started playing fast, punk-style songs. However, as the band has gotten older, its music has drifted into slightly mellower territory, comfortably settling in the alternative country vein.
