Nu Genea, formerly known as Nu Guinea, is an Italian musical duo formed in 2014, consisting of Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina. Originally based in Naples and now residing in Berlin, the duo debuted with an EP in 2014 and gained acclaim with their 2016 album The Tony Allen Experiments. Their 2018 LP Nuova Napoli, released through their own label NG Records, blended acoustic instruments with electronic sounds and Neapolitan language, earning international praise. In 2021, they rebranded as Nu Genea to reflect a new creative direction, symbolizing a fresh start and a deeper connection to their musical roots. They released Bar Mediterraneo in 2022, their first album under the new name, featuring collaborations and a blend of Mediterranean and global influences. Their discography includes notable works like Marechià (2021) and Tienaté (2022), showcasing their innovative approach to music.
