Nayyara Noor (3 November 1950 – 20 August 2022) was a prominent Pakistani playback singer renowned for her soulful ghazals and Urdu poetry renditions. Born in Guwahati, Assam, she migrated to Pakistan in the late 1950s. Noor began her career in the early 1970s, making a significant impact with her performances in Pakistani television serials and films like Gharana (1973) and Mastana (1973). She gained acclaim for her interpretations of ghazals by poets such as Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Momin Khan Momin. Despite lacking formal training, Noor’s natural talent was discovered by Professor Asrar Ahmad in 1968. Her notable works include "Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo" and "Ae Jazba-e-Dil Gar Main Chahoon." In 2012, she retired from professional music to focus on her family. She was honored with awards like the Pride of Performance in 2006. Noor passed away in Karachi in 2022, leaving behind a lasting legacy in Urdu music.
