FC UTA Arad represents Arad County in the Romanian Liga I. Established in 1945, it is one of the most successful clubs in the country, having conquered every national challenge through the course of its history. The club began its journey in a fairytale fashion, claiming its very first top division title in only its second season. It then went on a dominating spree the following season and won the domestic double. However, its purple patch ended in 1975, as financial troubles and poor form led to its relegation that season. After struggling with form, it faced a number of near and momentary promotions until its resurgence in 2013 saw it become a consistent top-tier club once again.
