Taking cues from dreamy 1960s psych-rock and more modern American indie folk-rock, Hljómsveitin Ég made the two styles its own by singing only in Icelandic. The six-piece formed in 2002 and released an album within the year, grabbing the country's attention. With the release of its second album, Hljómsveitin Ég picked up a nomination for best album of the year at the Icelandic Music Awards. Since then, the group has continued to develop its sound and has become a mainstay on Iceland's music scene.
