oRPHANS

Formed in London in 2005, oRPHANS is the new--and far less controversial--name of the now defunct project, BoNO MUST DIE. Using a crude and simple instrumentation setup of drums, guitar, keyboard and dirty sounding synthesizers, the group creates an in-your-face, often sinister hybrid of post punk, electro and rock. The trio will sometimes combat the somewhat ominous and schizophrenic nature of its music with oddly effective choices, such as its cover of Justin Timberlake's smash single, "Sexy Back." Surely not to be everyone's cup of tea, oRPHANS will nevertheless please adventurous fans of grimy electro rock and left-field dance music.
