Maria Schneider is a contemporary classical jazz composer from Windom, Minnesota who apprenticed for the revered jazz pianist Gil Evans after earning her master's degree in music from the prestigious Eastman School of Music. Going on to release her debut album, Evanescence, in 1994, Schneider has since distinguished herself as one of the more capable forces on the jazz and contemporary classical scenes, having racked up a number of Grammy Awards over the years for her impressively arranged material.
