Leyla McCalla is an American cellist who blends together elements of Caribbean folk and neoclassical to create a unique and uncompromising style of music. Initially emerging as a member of the Grammy-winning string ensemble Carolina Chocolate Drops, McCalla would eventually strike out on her own with her debut solo album, Vari-Colored Songs, in 2014.
