Gianluca Petrella is a jazz trombonist from Bari, Italy who distinguished himself early in his career when he won Musica Jazz's annual critics poll as Best Young Talent in 2001. Having since gone on to work as a band leader with funk tendencies, Petrella has also collaborated with a number of well-known musicians including Pat Metheny, Enrico Rave and Joey Calderazzo.
