Helsingin kaupunginorkesteri, aka the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, was established in 1882 by the Finnish composer Robert Kajanus. It is the oldest professional symphony orchestra in Scandinavia and it consists of 102 musicians. The orchestra's home venue is The Helsinki Music Centre as well as the Finlandia-talo. The group is best known for the recordings of the music of the great Finnish composer, Jean Sibelius.
