Hailing from Hannover, Germany the hard rock band Scorpions was formed in 1965 and is perhaps best known for its various hits throughout the 1980s. Although the band released its first record Lonesome Crow, in 1972, Scorpions first critically and commercially acclaimed album came in 1979 in the form of Lovedrive. The album was the first of a series of successful records and singles, including 1980's Animal Magnetism and its stand-out hit "The Zoo," as well as 1984's Love at First Sting, which featured the classic rock anthem, "Rock You Like a Hurricane." Though the band's music sometimes takes on qualities of hopped up pop friendly rock tunes straight out of Hollywood in the 1980s, Scorpions' German heavy metal influences are always at the forefront of the band's hard rock sound.
