About
Luleå HF has been an ever-present force of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) for over four decades. The club was founded in 1977 and spent its early years in the lower divisions. In 1985 it was promoted to the top-tier SHL for the first time and since then it has never been relegated. It won its first league championship in 1996, becoming the country's northernmost team to lift the trophy.
