Founded in 2004 as a three-piece death metal outfit, Landmine Marathon is fronted by vocalist Grace Perry whose tiny frame and classic features make her deep snarling voice completely unsuspecting. Though the band released its 2006 debut album Wounded to a fair amount of success, Landmine Marathon established its mixed death metal/grindcore sound with its 2008 sophomore album, Rusted Eyes Awake. With the addition of two guitarist, Ryan Butler and Dylan Thomas, the band began filling its gritty soundscape with urgent layers, further underscoring the raw and commanding nature of Perry's vocals.
