Dear Reader is an indie folk trio from Johannesburg, South Africa that incorporates electronic looping and heart-wrenching acoustic ballads into its sound. Consisting of singer/songwriter and pianist Cherilyn MacNeil, bassist Darryl Torr and drummer Michael Wright, the band released its debut album The Younger, in 2006 under the name Harris Tweed. After changing its name to Dear Reader when it encountered legal trouble from a Scottland-based outfit with a similar name, the band dropped its studio album Replace why with Funny, in 2009 followed by 2011's Idealistic Animals.
