Fittingly based out of New Orleans, King James & the Special Men are a seven-piece rhythm and blues act reminiscent of another era. Not so much purists as a group of musicians that appreciate the American south's musical history, the band draws on 1950s rockabilly, old Louisiana gospel and ragtime piano blues. Instead of sounding too fusionist, however, King James & the Special Men simply puts on an impressive, high-energy live show.
