Undoubtedly one of the best ice hockey teams in Finland Turun Palloseura (HC TPS) is the team to beat in the SM-liiga. Since its foundation in 1922, it has been a dominating force in the country and has been successful in almost every tournament it plays in. Its trophy cabinet boasts numerous league championships as well as the erstwhile Finnish Cup. In 1994 HC TPS made its mark in Europe when it won the prestigious IIHF European Cup.
