About
Tappara is Finnish for "Battle Axe" and the ice hockey team - Tampereen Tappara lives up to its name. The club was founded in 1955 and won its first league championship in 1959. It would then go on to become one of the most dominant forces in the SM-liiga as it cut every opponent down to size. In 2009 it proved to be a giant on the European stage, after winning the coveted European Trophy.
