In 2015, Estudiantes de Altamira relocated from Altamira to Tapachula giving birth to Cafetaleros de Tapachula Futbol Club. The football club won the Ascenso MX in 2018. Another relocation in 2019 and a change of name to Cafetaleros de Chiapas earned the team a promotion to the Liga MX. The team's home games are held at Estadio Víctor Manuel Reyna.
