The Sacred Heart Pioneers are the moniker for the university's 31 athletic teams. With a massive sports program that includes 17 women's teams and 14 men's teams, Sacred Heart is a dominant presence in the Division I. Though most of its teams compete in the Northeast Conference, they also compete in the Atlantic Hockey, Colonial Athletic Association, Easter College Athletic Conference, Easter Intercollegiate Wrestling Association and the Eastern International volleyball Association. The Pioneers are best-known for their women's basketball team as well as the men's golf team.
