Mixing blues and rock with a healthy dose of soul, Alabama Shakes is a four-piece outfit from Athens, AL that quickly established itself as a band capable of authentically channeling the sound of the much-beloved genres it pulls inspiration from. Front woman Brittany Howard catapults the band above other soul/rock acts with her booming voice, coating Alabama Shakes' southern rock tunes with soulful expression. After a buzzed about performance at CMJ in the Fall of 2011, the band began a string of sold-out shows across the US and has garnered serious critical acclaim for its 2012 debut album, Boys & Girls.
