John Prine

Raised in rural Illinois on acoustic folk and rockabilly, John Prine became one of the more respected country singer/songwriters to have emerged during the 1970s. Though never obtaining tremendous commercial success, several notable musicians enjoy Prine's simple, yet intelligent style of songs - Kris Kristofferson once said that Prine wrote songs so well that "we'll have to break his thumbs." Many musicians have covered his songs, including Bette Midler as well as Joan Baez, and Prine has recorded several duets with other country music stars to much acclaim. Prine passed away on April7, 2020 in Nashville, TN.
