The Winnipeg Jets are a National Hockey League team in the Central Division of the Western Conference. The franchise was created in 1999 as the Atlanta Thrashers and moved to Winnipeg prior to the 2011-12 season. The return of the Jets ended a 14-year drought of hockey in Winnipeg, as the previous Jets franchise moved to Phoenix in 1996 and became the Phoenix Coyotes.
