For a metalcore and death metal band, Dead Lay Waiting has some surprisingly melodic tunes that are often unexpected in this genre. The beginnings of their songs are so harmoniously inviting that it would lead the unsuspecting, non-death metal lovers to continue listening, until they are rudely awakened with the deep, high voltage growls that distinguish this genre, as is the case with "I'll Hunt You Down" (or perhaps true to the song's name, this beguiling is a way to capture a fan). While Dead Lay Waiting's music may not impress the savviest of metalcore fans, it does have a wider, general appeal.
