Though many of the songs created by the Portland-based trio Blouse have a defined lo-fi sonic aesthetic, the group also manages to lay on impressive amounts of synthetic sheen to create a heady balance in its music. Gaining notoriety in 2011 for its ep-titled debut album, distributed on the seminal alt-rock label Captured Tracks, Blouse has managed to turn many heads with its interesting sound that blends dream pop sensibilities with a more DIY approach. Though female vocalist Charlie Hilton draws attention with her inspired singing, listening deeply to Blouse's music will key in listeners to the ornately constructed synth lines and bass guitar propulsions that exist under the seams.
