If there was ever a legitimate carnival rock genre of music, The Burns Unit would be at the top of the list. With eight members and a theatrical sound, this super group of Canadian and Scottish heritage owns a very multifaceted sound of indie pop and rock music. Singer Emma Pollock offers a solid pop influence to the band which is complemented by Karine Polwart and King Creosote's folky undertones, Future Pilot AKA's synthesized bass and Michael Johnston's energetic drumming. The Burns Unit's anticipated debut album Side Show was released in the summer of 2010, followed by performances at the Cambridge Folk Festival.
