The daughter of legendary country singer Mel Tillis, Pam Tillis has carried on her father's legacy for modern listeners with a strong career all her own. Raised in the country music hub of Nashville, she was musically inclined and playing various instruments by the time she hit her teens. As 16, she was in a tragic car accident that left her with multiple life-threatening injuries. After a series of successful surgical reconstruction surgeries however, Tillis was back on her feet and more committed than ever to finding success with her country roots and powerful voice. Back in Nashville, her work as a songwriter found her songs being picked up by the likes of Martina McBride, Gloria Gaynor and Conway Twitty. But it's her solo work, a combination of vocal country and twangy pop ballads, that has made her a country music star as well-revered as her father.
