James Blood Ulmer is a jazz fusion guitarist and singer/songwriter from St. Matthews, South Carolina. Playing his trademark semi-acoustic guitar, Ulmer's sound has been described as raggedy soul. Since releasing his debut album, Revealing, in 1977, Ulmer has maintained a fairly prolific LP output schedule in addition to keeping busy as an in demand collaborator with some big names from the modern jazz world.
