Alexian Group

About

This group of musicians, Alexian Santino Spinelli, creates music with a true gypsy musical style. Spinelli, vocalist and accordionist, uses his music to travel through Romani history. His erratic accordian, on top of what sounds like a symphony of percussion, flavor the group's music with a folky restlessness that is parallel to the nomadic traditions of gypsies. Alexian Group's album, Gijem, Gijem, translated from the Rom Abruzzesi language as "Walking, walking," is another tribute to a history of wandering. The group has played some of the most influential ethnic music festivals, including Festival Internacional de la Musica Gitani in Barcellona and Festival Europeen Tzigane in Strasbourg, France.
