WrittenHouse is a hip-hop crew from Philadelphia that has risen in fame as of late for providing a pretty decent alternative to what its members call the "generic rap message of guns and drugs." The choice to dive headfirst into the rugged terrain of alternative rap proved to be a good one, as WrittenHouse has become a favorite among such a diverse following of fans, prompting many to label the group as the "Grateful Dead of Hip-Hop." Having successfully transitioned from working primarily in the studio to becoming an excellent live act, WrittenHouse has been proving time and time again since 2002 that its appeal as a progressive force in hip-hop is hardly waning.
