Jaurim (자우림/紫雨林), which means "violet rain forest" in English, is an alternative rock band from Seoul that has risen to become one of the most commercially successful acts in the genre and has done much to popularize and spark interest in the country's independent rock movement since its formation in 1997. As of 2011, Jaurim has released seven full-length studio albums that have received consistent acclaim from critics and fans of the group, as well as several live and remix albums. Having since become one of the more iconic bands in South Korean musical culture, Jaurim's fan base is not only confined to Korean speaking audiences, but is beginning to have some influence on emerging independent rock bands throughout the world.
